Player voice · Final Fantasy XVI
The patterns long-haul reviewers keep returning to.
What players love
The Eikon set pieces and the combat underneath them. Even players who cooled on the story keep the fights in the positive column.

"I got this game as a birthday gift, to be honest the prologue was really interesting and epic, but on the mid-late game i dont know it kinda bored me, a lot of repetitive quest. At least the combat mechanic and eikon fight is really good.. and well its a final fantasy"

"bad performance but a good game, personally i didn't like some writing choices at the end but it was a fun game (minus boring sidequest, i played all sidequests but i would skip them if i had to replay the game)"

"Excellent game with beautiful graphics, nice combat system and awesome music. For me it's one of the good titles in the series and it's worth playing."

What frustrates them
Performance that never improved, and the side quests. Both complaints date from the PC launch and no build has arrived to change either.

"Game runs like molasses even with few monsters in combat scenarios. S-E is a joke and Yoshida has failed upwards. FF as a brand really is in the gutter."

"Felt like FFXIII all over again, along with all mistakes it represents, plus a lot of filler dialogue, meaningless quest and a weaker story."

"This game released in 2024. I shouldn't have to patch out 30 FPS locks. How many more decades do gamers need to complain about this before developers start getting with the program?"
