How many cameo bots are in Astro Bot?

Astro Bot has 300+ secret bots, with 195 of them being cameo bots referencing PlayStation characters across the platform's 30-year history. Master Onion (PaRappa the Rapper) is the secret 301st bot — the last one you'll unlock. Cameos span PS1 to PS5 plus PSP, Vita, and PSVR — Kratos and the God of War cast, Lara Croft, Leon S. Kennedy, Ratchet, Sackboy, the Uncharted crew, and more. Weekly speedrun-level updates have added Final Fantasy bots since July 2025.

How long does it take to beat Astro Bot?

The main story takes about 10-12 hours if you stick to required levels. Sweeping side content and most secrets pushes a standard run to 15 hours. Full 100% completion (every bot rescued, every secret level beaten, every trophy popped) is 18-20 hours. The free DLC packs Stellar Speedway and Vicious Void each add roughly 30-60 minutes of speedrun-style content depending on retries.

What does Astro Bot do with the PS5 DualSense controller?

Astro Bot ties level design to the DualSense's adaptive triggers and haptics — sand has a soft crunchy vibration, metal surfaces feel sharper, and Barkster the bulldog jetpack rumbles your finger in sync with thrust. The Dual Speeder uses motion control, adaptive trigger resistance, and haptic feedback simultaneously. Power-up state changes (the mouse-shrinking level dampens haptics; ice surfaces feel slick) are the kind of thing other studios don't bother with — and the PS5 controller's haptic capabilities define how it plays.

What awards did Astro Bot win at The Game Awards 2024?

Astro Bot won The Game Awards 2024 Game of the Year on December 12, 2024, plus Best Game Direction, Best Action/Adventure Game, and Best Family Game — four wins total. It was the third Sony Interactive Entertainment-published game to take GOTY (after God of War 2018 and The Last of Us Part II 2020). Sony Interactive Entertainment swept six total wins across the show.

Is Astro Bot good for kids and families?

Astro Bot is rated E10+ (ESRB) / PEGI 7 — Crude Humor and Fantasy Violence at most, with cartoonish enemies that disappear or break apart rather than show realistic damage. Kids 7+ generally have the dexterity for it; younger players (5-6) can play with parental help. Each planet has Easy/Normal/Hard difficulty tiers so siblings of different ages can take turns. Co-op is one-controller, but parents can call out hidden cameos while a kid drives.
